Open mic night

A new acoustic/open mic night with a difference starts at Church Hill Victoria Club, Hednesford, tomorrow (Friday).

The first hour will be allocated to young performers (aged 12 and over) so they can gain experience of a live audience.

Three young singer/song-writers have already signed up to appear.

Later in the evening older musicians are invited to perform, the aim being to inspire youngsters.

Organiser Trevor Stokes said: "More than ever, young people are showing an interest and ability as musicians beyond their years, but with few venues to showcase their skills on a regular basis. This is an opportunity to gain experience and confidence whilst perfecting their art in front of like-minded people and other musicians."

The event starts at 8pm. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

*The venue cannot cater for drum kits or karaoke.
