Cannock & Rugeley boys remain unbeaten

Another impressive performance from Cannock & Rugeley U15s at the weekend saw the boys complete a memorable West Midland Youth Cricket League and Cup double after a comprehensive victory over West Bromwich Dartmouth.

On a wet morning, Cannock & Rugeley bowled first and Farley (0-19) and Taylor (1-21) continually found the edge of the bat with some excellent bowling.

West Bromwich Dartmouth batsmen found runs hard to come by throughout their innings and could only manage a total of 114-5 due to further excellent fielding and sensible bowling from Ponder, Aston and Scragg.

C&R batsman started slowly in reply and the loss of Collins and Fawcett before the score reached 30 meant Ponder and Morgan needed to be at their best.

Skipper, Ryan Ponders innings of 57(retired) was superbly controlled and full of quality while Morgan played the all important supporting role.

Farley came to crease and scored a quick fire 13 before being dismissed with just one run required which fittingly Morgan scored to complete a fantastic unbeaten season in the West Midland League.
