Hednesford Town 0 North Ferriby United 2
The game at Keys Park on Saturday gave the Pitmen the ideal chance to get the first victory against Hull based North Ferriby United - but as in previous games against the Villagers they found goals hard to come by and in the process lost this season’s 100 per cent home League record.
A half chance fell to leading goalscorer Tyronne Barnett in the ninth minute when a miscued shot by Sean Platt found the Pitmen centre forward who attempted a back heel which was easily saved by Steve Wilson.
Ferriby’s centre half Sam Denton had to be stretchered off in the 18th minute after twisting an ankle when conceding a corner under pressure from Dyer.
It took over half an hour for the first decent shot of the game and it came from Elliott Durrell who after Barnett had set up the chance to shoot sent his effort high over the crossbar. Ferriby keeper Steve Wilson was cautioned in the 40th minute for picking the ball up outside of his area which denied Ross Dyer a clear run on goal.
Brock was in action at the start of the second half when he had to tip round the post a snap shot from a Ferriby forward. The opening goal came in the 78th minute after Pitmen keeper Stuart Brock had conceded a corner by saving a shot from the Ferriby sub Steve Torpey at the base of his right hand post
The corner from the left was floated towards the near post for Torpey who rose above the Pitmen defenders to head the ball off the top of his head into the far side of the net over the defender on the back post.
In an attempt to get back into the game Tyrone Barnett had a couple of headed chances which went close but on a day that the Pitmen will want to forget quickly the three points were made sure of deep into injury time when Gary Bradshaw scored from close range after a well placed cross from Andy Jackson found the Ferriby striker open inside the box from where he hit a low volley giving Brock no chance of making a save.
