Mixed bag for anglers

The fishing has been up and down this week, just like the weather.

Some days anglers have been catching 20 fish and then the wind changes direction and anglers struggle to get a pull.

The lake is going through a strange time at the moment with the rod average going up and down daily but for this week the average has been 3.2, with some really good days and the odd really bad day.

Hopefully this cooler weather will stay with us and the trout will really start to pull.

Rob Wheeldon and Scott Wilson showed how many fish could be caught on some days by taking 21 and 15 respectively.

All of the fish were taken on Dries from small daddy long legs to Hogs. The areas which have been the best from the boats have been over on the Ticknall bank from Bush

Bay all the way up to the Power lines with some really good fish up to 5lb have been taken.

The boils are holding a huge number of fish and also the Sailing Club and Flamingo Bay have produced some good bags.

The fish have been high up in the water so keep with the top 5ft of water with Dries and nymphs being the top method. But don't rule out the boobies and blobs on the intermediate because on the day they wont be beaten.

Bank anglers are starting to find the odd fish feeding on the fry outside the lodge and in the Sailing Club, Verdun's Point and Flamingo bay are also well worth a go. With huge amounts of fry starting to shoal in and around the jetty, it's only a matter of time before the trout turn on them, then get ready for some super fry bashing!
