Cannock and Stafford Athletics Club round-up

The under 15 girls of Cannock and Stafford Athletic Club last weekend justified the faith coach and team manager Bob Hughes had in them when predicting that they are one of the best squads in the Midlands.

Competing in the Midland Cross Country Championships at Berry Hill Park in Mansfield which takes in an area from Bristol in the South up to Mansfield in the North they came away with well deserved bronze medals just being narrowly beaten by winners Halesowen and runners up Leicester.

Jade Bird who is in her first year at this age group was always nicely placed in the leading pack of runners and it was only towards the end when the pace quickened that six were able to get the better of her but a seventh place in these championships is an outstanding achievement.
