Were Burntwood lights in the sky a UFO?

Did you spot anything mysterious in the night skies on Friday?

A formation of seven ‘craft’ were spotted flying over Burntwood at 9.40pm. A group of six adults and a small child watched in amazement as the bright lights passed overhead in the direction of Lichfield.

Stunned 62-year-old Michael Bardsley, from Trevithick Close, said he had just returned from a night out, but had not been drinking. He was getting out of his car on the drive with four family members when his wife spotted a bright light but it wasn’t a plane.

There were seven of the craft about 100 metres apart at plane height, coming from the direction of Chase Terrace, Michael told The Post.

He said the underside of the UFOs were like the underbelly of a jellyfish in appearance. Two neighbours from across the road watched the spectacle with the family. Michael managed to catch the bright lights on his phone camera, but the pictures do not show the craft in detail.

“We could not understand what they were,” Michael told The Post. “We couldn’t hear any engines.”

As the craft headed towards Lichfield they suddenly disappeared.

“I’ve always wanted to see a UFO. But to see seven!” Michael said. “I would like someone to explain. I just don’t know what they were. I was gobsmacked.”

A Chasetown Police spokesman confirmed he had checked with the Civil Aviation Authority who were not aware of any planes in the area at that time
