A shooting champ from Burntwood has returned from a Commonwealth tournament with an impressive four medal haul.
Martyn Buttery, 34, took two gold, one silver and one bronze at the Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships in Gibraltar last month. It was his first time representing England and as well as his medal tally, he was also voted shooter of the tournament.
He dominated his first event, the 10m Air Rifle, taking individual and team gold medals.
He earned silver for the 50m Rifle 3x40 three positions team event and bronze for the single event. His haul helped England top the medal table with 16 prizes. The team also boasted the most medalled man and woman competitors.
He said: “I’m really pleased with my results and proud of the England team’s achievements.
“The championships was a fantastic experience and I would like to thank my colleagues at Eley and my wife for all their help and support.
Clive Scrivens, Martyn’s boss at ammunition maker Eley Ltd, said: “We’re all very proud to have a Commonwealth Champion working at Eley. Martyn’s hard work and dedication has paid off with these fantastic results.”
