Driver is pronounced dead at scene
A 22-year-old Burntwood woman has died after her car collided with a parked vehicle before ploughing into a street lamp and brick wall.
The woman, who has not yet been named, was driving a blue Peugeot 306 along Chase Road towards the Swan Island.
The incident, at the junction of Travellers Close, happened at around 11.45pm on Tuesday night.
An ambulance, incident support officer, police and fire crews were sent to the scene.
But the woman had suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “When crews arrived, they found a car on its side with the woman trapped.
“Ambulance staff worked with fire crews to free her but sadly it was not possible to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Peter Stevens, spokesman for Staffordshire Police, said: “The incident involved one moving vehicle - a blue Peugeot 306, which collided with a parked car and street lamp, before rolling onto its roof.
“The 22-year-old driver sustained serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Roads in the area were closed for around four hours while officers investigated the scene.
Chasetown Police are now appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 0300 123 4455.
