A family are demanding to know why a constantly leaking water pipe that they reported almost two months ago still has not fixed. The gushing pipe outside the back door at the Elizabeth Road property was first reported on August 12.
A frustrated Julie Clewley said: “After the complaint was logged, I was contacted by Cannock Council who said they would be coming to sort it out on September 24.”
“So I took the day off work. But no-one came. No-one even phoned to explain why they hadn’t come.
“So I called the council back. I wasn’t very happy about it. The woman I spoke to said she had no knowledge of my appointment for September 24, and finally said that they would be coming back on October 7.
“So again, I took the day off work, and waited. I waited in all day, and still nothing happened. I called the council back immediately, and they said they had no knowledge of my appointment, but instead would be coming out on October 27. I’ve got children in this house, and to have something like this, with the health issues it brings, is not good enough.”
Cannock Council put the problem down to a ‘breakdown in communications’ and said the matter would be addressed as a matter of priority.
A spokesperson said: “There appears to have been a breakdown in communications between Cannock Chase Council and South Staffs Water, who normally carry out this work. We are sending an officer to the property this (Wednesday) morning to deal with it, and to get the problem fixed as soon as possible before October 27.”
